Title
Adult Substance Misuse Services - Market Engagement Event
Categories
310000 - Healthcare
321020 - Alcohol & Drug Rehabilitation
Description

Medway Council requires an effective integrated adult substance treatment, wellbeing and recovery service to ensure people who use substances have access to a range of support options (including harm reduction interventions, treatment, psychosocial support, and recovery/wellbeing services).

The service will provide access to all, ensuring preventative support and trauma-informed tailored treatment plans to reduce drug and/or alcohol related harms in Medway. The service will provide treatment and support for people who use substances, which includes illicit drugs, prescribed drugs, alcohol, and new psychoactive substances (such as Spice). To achieve the best outcomes, Medway Council will require the provider to focus resources on those where substance misuse has the greatest impact on their own lives and the lives of others (in particular their families and communities), and those most likely to change their behaviours. Medway Council will require substance support services to take the service out into the community, particularly for those who face severe and multiple disadvantages, with the aim to reduce accessibility barriers and improve outcomes for the most vulnerable people in Medway. Partnership working across the local system is pivotal in achieving this and multiagency work will be a key priority for substance support services. Medway Council will also require substance misuse services to work in partnership with people with lived and living experience in both service delivery and development. Evidence from peer-led projects across the UK, the local HNA and a recent pilot project in Medway, have demonstrated the successful outcomes that come from involving people with lived/living experience in service delivery and design. This includes interacting with people who use drugs including alcohol, that are not engaged in treatment into services, and ensuring access to harm reduction interventions (e.g. naloxone, needle syringe programmes) which can be lifesaving.

A formal market engagement event will be held on Friday 10 June 2022 from 9:30am to 12:30pm. . The event will be held online via Teams and a link will be sent in advance to all interested organisations that confirm attendance by 10:00am on Wednesday 8 June 2022.

This event will be an opportunity for the Council to provide some further details in relation to this commissioning work, including areas for priority, themes for further discussion with providers during the commissioning process, initial consultation findings, and further detail relating to the commissioning timeline. Further information can be found in the attached Memorandum of Information and documents.

INSTRUCTIONS: Interested organisations should confirm their attendance at the event by emailing robin.mitchell@medway.gov.uk and tracey.kilbane@medway.gov.uk by 10:00am Wednesday 8 June 2022.
