Description

We have an ambitious new proposal on the future of youth services with and for young people in Newcastle. The model is one that builds on engagement, aligns with locality working, builds relationships and promotes collaboration and critically, supports young people to have a direct say in the city post COVID-19. The service is for young people between the ages of 13 and 19 and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) up to the age of 25 living in Newcastle. The overall aim is to develop activities with young people that promote personal and social development, improve health outcomes, reduce risk-taking behaviour, and reduce youth anti-social behaviour (ASB). This proposal forms an important part of the city’s commitment to support young people in response to COVID-19. The proposed model is in two parts: A new Youth Fund – to invest in young person led activity in each of four localities across the city. A new Rapid Response Fund – to invest in short-term interventions in response to escalation of youth related issues e.g. significant increase in youth ASB in an identified hotspot. Please visit https://www.letstalknewcastle.co.uk/consultations/info/339 for more information. Let's Talk includes the Integrated Impact Assessment for the proposal and the Engagement Feedback. Please read them first and complete the survey. Young People's Feedback We are also very keen to hear the views of young people, and we would like you to encourage the young people that you support to get involved. Please encourage them to watch this biteable https://youtu.be/290Rf6fpko8 and complete this survey https://forms.office.com/r/kh6AqXbJd9. Following feedback we will share the final model in June 2021. The deadline for all feedback is 14 June 2021.
