SH05835 - Housing Demolition Programme
Main contract details
Within the scope of this contract there is a confirmed requirement to demolish a number of garages and outhouses. During the contract period ad hoc orders will be placed for these works in line with the approximate quantities identified in Section 4.
In addition, following a review of pre-cast concrete garages around the city orders may be placed for the demolition of additional garages. The Contractor must be aware there is no guarantee that any of the works for pre-cast concrete garages will be ordered.
.2 The Works will include site surveys, the erection of temporary perimeter security fences/hoardings; erection of temporary scaffolding and protective dustproof sheeting, if required, clearing all asbestos and domestic waste from the buildings, and the demolition of the buildings to the topside of the ground floor slabs or to the levels as instructed by the Contract Administrator. There will also be a requirement to reinstate boundaries following demolition, grub out slabs where required, and carry out re-surfacing and line marking.
.3 The Contractor’s attention is drawn to the following:-
(i) The Contractor will be solely responsible for liaison with all the appropriate bodies to effect the Works. These bodies shall include, but are not restricted to the Local Authority Highway and Drainage Departments; other Sheffield City Council Departments, South Yorkshire Police and the Public Companies with Statutory Duties and Utility Undertakings.
(ii) Whilst many of the garages and outhouses within the scope of works are void properties, there will be an element of liaison required. The Contractor will be solely responsible for liaison with all owner/occupiers of property, which will or may be affected by the Works.
(iii) The Contractor will be solely responsible for negotiating, establishing and financing any closures, diversions or alternative service provision required by the bodies referred to in (i) above if required by his proposed method of working. Such costs are deemed to be included in the Contractor’s tender.
2/10 SH05835
(iv) The Contractor will be solely responsible for all claims from third parties, which may arise as a result of the Contractor undertaking the Works.
.4 No guarantee of the actual number of properties in the scheme will be given and no continuity of work can be guaranteed.
.5 The blocks will be handed to the Contractor individually, or in groups dependent on availability, each based on an Order. The scope of work to each site may vary depending on conditions prevailing at the time.
.6 Some properties/sites identified in the Tender Documents may not be handed to the Contractor due to them having been withdrawn from the Contract.
.7 The Contractor shall allow in his rates for any additional costs in relation to out-of-sequence or uneconomical working methods and disruption due to the aforementioned criteria.
.8 The Contract Period will be initially 36 months, up to 4th August 2023, with a provision to extend a further 12 months, up to 2nd August 2024, subject to annual review. The review will take place in January 2023 and the respective 12 months extension will be dependent on employers requirements, budget availability, continuing good performance by the Contractor and agreement of a satisfactory inflationary adjustment to the rates and prices.
