A40 Elmbridge Court Roundabout Improvements
Main contract details
The proposed scheme has been designed to enhance the capacity of Elmbridge Court roundabout by providing additional lanes on the approaches to the roundabout, 24 hour traffic signal control of all arms except two (Cheltenham Road East and Elmbridge Court egress) and the construction of a “straight on”, two lane, one way link from the westbound carriageway of the A40 Golden Valley Bypass to the A40 Gloucester Northern Bypass known as a “hamburger lane” through the roundabout. All approaches to the roundabout will be widened. All the widening of the A40 Golden Valley (to five lanes on the westbound approach and three lanes on the eastbound departure) will take place on the northern side of the carriageway, necessitating the extension of two pedestrian subways and a culvert and the construction of two gabion retaining walls. All works will take place within the existing highway boundary without the need for land from third parties. The works will include diversions of statutory apparatus.
Detailed design has been completed. The attached drawing provides further details.
The proposed procurement route will be an Open Procedure using the NEC3 ECC form of Contract, Option A Priced Contract with Activity Schedule. This will be confirmed on publication of the contract notice.
The purpose of the event is to provide the opportunity for all interested suppliers to engage through a common format with the GCC Highways team. The event will provide a suitable forum to gather feedback and ideas from the market. We aim to test the principles and workability of the proposed design with your feedback and ideas. Suppliers are welcomed from across the Industry, SME's as well as larger National suppliers.
