Description
As a part of the Castleford to Wakefield Greenway scheme a cycleway bridge is required to cross the existing railway. The crossing position is at the position of an existing bridge which has since been removed. Abutments remain but these are not to be utilised in the design, though the effect of their possible removal must be considered by the designer.

The feasibility report has recommended a 35m span steel bridge on abutments independent and not reliant on the existing abutments.

The contractor is to design and build a 35m span steel cycleway bridge in accordance with the current Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works as published by DfT. The design must also include for all requirements of Network Rail in crossing their infrastructure.

Detailed design of the rail bridge including AIP and Category 3 Check.

Signal Sighting Report

Progress meeting attendance

Programme preparation and monthly updates.

Dealing with all technical queries during construction

Network Rail Liaison Design/Query Procedures during Construction.
