Description
Bath and North East Somerset Council invites tenders for the preparation of a new management plan for the River Avon Park in Bath.

At present the area covered by the ‘new’ park consists of existing river banks, towpath and a number of small, fragmented ‘pocket parks’ – all of which have a different character and differing levels of maintenance and management. The Council is now seeking to develop a single management plan for the area to improve the quality of the visitor experience, increase biodiversity and manage the increasing use of the path and green spaces in anticipation of new development.

The River Avon Park runs through the centre of Bath’s Enterprise Area with 2,700 new homes and 9,000 new jobs to be provided over the next 20 years there will be increased recreational pressure, but also a step change is possible to deliver a new fantastic city park. The Council and WaterSpace partners want to facilitate this, by improving the maintenance and management regime alongside new investment in the parks and open spaces.

Initial mapping, feasibility study and design work has already been undertaken which can inform this project. A client project team has also been established, with key parties identified.
