PRIOR INFORMATION NOTICE: Carers Support Services in Somerset

THIS RELATES TO A PRIOR INFORMATION NOTICE. THIS IS NOT AT THIS STAGE A CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY.

This notice does not represent a formal commitment by Somerset County Council to undertake a procurement procedure.

Somerset County Council (SCC) is seeking interest from organisations that would like to provide a carers support service in Somerset. The carers support service is a universal service for unpaid carers and former carers in Somerset. Somerset County Council and the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group wish to support unpaid carers within their role and also former carers by jointly commissioning a carers support service as the needs of carers span across health and social care. This service aims to involve carers in identifying their needs, assist them to continue with their caring role and ensure their health and wellbeing outcomes are achieved. The aim of the carers support service will be to improve the quality of life for carers and former carers living in Somerset and work in partnership with others to ensure equality of access with a coordinated approach to service delivery that is outcome focussed.

Organisations that take part in this event will not be advantaged or disadvantaged in any way in any potential future formal procurement. Commercial confidentiality will be respected.

Market Engagement & Collaboration Event

Following a number of successful involvement events facilitated by Carers Voice Somerset, at which carers, service providers and commissioners were invited to contribute to the process of reviewing the current carers support services and determining what services may be required in the future, Somerset County Council (SCC) is planning a market engagement and collaboration event to share the vision and help facilitate the process of organisations working together. This is with a view to ensuring that Carers Support Services in Somerset are modern, transformative and fit for the future from October 2017 onwards.

This event is intended for organisations who are interested in providing services of this type in Somerset and will provide an opportunity to meet other interested organisations and understand what they offer. The Council are currently considering how the contract will work in the future, but it is possible that the model will provide some scope for organisations to work together in collaboration.

Following a brief overview of the current services and outcomes from the previous events hosted by Carers Voice Somerset, attendees will be given the opportunity to deliver a brief presentation (5 minutes) about their organisation, the services they provide and the future areas of provision they are interested in. SCC will also provide information regarding potential models of working together and signposting to other useful sources of information on collaboration as well as information on the tender process and social value and added value. A limited amount of space will also be available for organisations to display leaflets/ business cards etc.

Due to the venue size, we ask that no more than two representatives attend from each organisation. Places and presentation time slots will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
