Description
Thanet District Council is seeking to select and appoint a suitably qualified contractor to undertake urgent refurbishment work to existing passenger lifts in the Thanet District area. Early mobilisation/commencement of works is essential following contract award to the successful contractor. Works are anticipated to commence on or about 19th October 2020. These works involve producing a comprehensive specification of requirements to be formed to encompass the requirements of all the lift types within the scope of proposed contract and to include BS EN81-80 A3 Compliancy (Uncontrolled movement in both directions) where this is not currently insitu.

Where an existing lift has been identified as nearing the end of its useful life, it
will be subject to a comprehensive modernisation / refurbishment programme.

The outline scope of works will include the following:

(i) Install new AC VVVF drive system;
(ii) Install new ACVVF gearless drive motor;
(iii) Install new diverter sheaves and suspension rope system;
(iv) Install new over speed governor and safety gear;
(v) Install new microprocessor control system with relevant shaft information
equipment;
(vi) Rewire the complete installation including trailing flexes to the lift car;
(vii) Removal of existing landing entrances and installation of new 2 hour fire
rated landing entrances complete with door furniture;
(viii) Install new car door operator equipment including door furniture;
(ix) New stainless steel car door panels including fully height
electronic door detector
(x) Install new push buttons and digital indicator signalisation inside the lift
car and on all landings to comply with EN 81-70:2018;
(xi) Replace lift car sling and enclosure. Replace the lift car interior
with finishes as detailed;
(xii) Testing of installation in accordance with BS 5655-10.1.1:1995

The procurement process will be undertaken on the basis of an open tender. Evaluation will be on the basis of criteria and methodology as set out in the Invitation to Tender document. The form of contract will be JCT Minor Works 2016 (with contractors design) plus Thanet District Council’s Special Conditions.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Suppliers should in first instance register themselves on the Kent Business Portal by following registration instructions. Any clarifications or questions must be submitted via the discussions area of the Kent Business Portal by no later than 14.00 hrs 4th June 2020.
