CP1321-16 Healthwatch and Local Engagement - Market warming event

Market Warming Event – Local Healthwatch and Local engagement. This contract is divided into two separate Lots.

NEW Devon CCG, Devon County Council and South Devon and Torbay CCG will be preparing a contract for a provider of local health and social care engagement which will go live in April 2017. The exact scope of this service has not yet been confirmed, but this meeting will provide an opportunity to bring together potential providers, commissioners, policy lead, procurement officers and subject experts.

The meeting will advise the market of the opportunity and explore what the new specification will look like.

The Healthwatch role is a statutory function mandated by central government. Every local authority with social care responsibility in England has to commission a Local Healthwatch organisation to act as an independent consumer voice for health and social care issues. In Devon our current contract for the provision of the Local Healthwatch role, i.e. Healthwatch Devon, combines the consumer voice function with provision of a local engagement, gateway‘ for local consultation by health and social care managers, commissioners and clinicians. We are now dividing that contract into 2 Lots to enable providers to bid for each one separately.


The 2 Lot contract will comprise of:
Lot 1 - The statutory health and social care consumer voice role with a contract value of £468,000 per annum. The contract duration will be three years with options to extend for a further one or two years.
Lot 2 - The local engagement service has no set contract value as there is no guarantee of business, but tender specification will indicate potential business value a successful provider could expect. The contract duration will be three years with options to extend for a further one or two years.

The market warming event in Exeter will provide a chance to discuss how the new contract will work and provide information about the tendering process.
