Main contract details
The aim of the event is to discuss the translation and interpretation provision for vulnerable children, young people and adults purchased by Gloucestershire County Council and to explore a new way of meeting this need. It is one element of the on-going development of the council to respond with partners and providers to the needs of vulnerable children, young people and adults.
The council is in the process of reviewing the current level of spot purchasing of Translation and Interpretation services in order to improve efficiency and transparency; provide better use of resources; allow providers to confidently develop and future proof their services; and provide assurance that services are safe and of a consistent quality.
The purpose of the event is to:
• Provide information on the current position and planning timescales of the council
• Provide information on the proposed procurement option, a Dynamic Purchasing System, and on the Pro-contract portal through which providers bid for work
• Share and consider proposed council quality assurance principles for translation and interpretation services
• Achieve an open discussion and networking opportunities
Translation and Interpretation within the scope of this work, but not exclusively include:
• Telephone
• Face to Face
• Non- spoken Language ( BSL, deafblind communication, lip-speak )
• Documents including Braille
• Preparation of court and legal documents
• Verbal and non- verbal communication using video, audio technology and other media ( eg video conferencing, Skype and Face-time)
(Please note the following are not included within the scope of this project: easy read, Makaton or assisted technology and any provision currently under contract or provided by the council )
The event will be held in the centre of Gloucester on 14th April 2016, 2:00-4:00 pm. Spaces are limited to one person per provider. Please register your interest in attending the event by emailing victoria.williams@gloucestershire.gov.uk by 2pm on 12th April 2016. Victoria will send out venue details to registered attendees by 4pm on 12th April.
