Description
Bristol Waste Company acting on behalf of Bristol City Council has a statutory duty to clean its streets, relevant land and other associated highways. Bristol Waste Company acting on behalf of Bristol City Council is legally required to dispose of such waste generated during these activities.

Bristol Waste Company is seeking to award a contract for the receipt, processing and Recycling of Contract Waste. The Contract Price is to include the costs of receipt, processing and Recycling of Contract Waste including the re-use or marketing of the recycled material and the disposal of residues. The initial Contract duration is 24 month with the option to extend for one or more periods up to an aggregated period of 24 months.

Street Sweeping waste arising from Bristol Waste Company’s street sweeping activities consists entirely of mechanical street sweeping waste generated from activities listed below;

Waste from Mechanical Street Sweepers during routine and ad-hoc cleansing of Bristol City Councils streets, parks footpaths, pedestrianized and similar areas. The composition of Mechanical Street Sweeping waste varies according to seasonality, annual holidays, local events and similar activities. Street Sweeping waste collected during autumn months contains increased levels of organic waste. Street Sweeping waste from high footfall areas such as central Bristol may have increased levels of items such as bottles, cans, other litter items, etc.

Under the terms of this contract water contained within Street Sweeping waste is considered Contract Waste and must be treated in accordance with this contract. Waste from Street Sweeping Waste will be dewatered before each deposition of waste and so will naturally contain varying quantities of water.

For avoidance of doubt material derived from gully drain emptyings are excluded from this contract.
