Description
The London Borough of Enfield is seeking suitable providers as part of a market engagement exercise for the joint service provision of an Appropriate Adults Service for Vulnerable Adults and Juveniles who are residents within either the London Borough of Enfield or Haringey.

We are seeking to engage with single providers who have experience and a proven track record to provide, suitable and trained ‘appropriate’ adults who will work in the best interests and wellbeing of vulnerable adults and children who have no parent or guardian, who are remanded in police custody and will be subjected to police interrogation.

The service will be delivered from the current Police Custody Suite for Enfield and Haringey. which is based in Wood Green, North London. And, if required 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Estimated annual call outs – 1500.

The provider must:
• have a least 3 years’ experience in this field of work or similar
• be able to provide evidence of a high quality support and assistance service to young people aged between 10-17 and Vulnerable Adults with a clinical diagnosis of a learning disability and/or mental health condition.
• meet statutory obligations resultant of Section 38 of the Crime and Disorder Act (1998),
• ensure the provision of suitable and appropriate adults in support of the Youth Offending Service (YOS) who will be required to attend custody suites to provide support, advice and assistance to vulnerable individuals in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) 1984, Code of Practice C.
• be able to provide local performance data and benchmarking information against other London Boroughs and provide intelligence on county line issues
• have experience of working in a metropolitan environment and the challenges that can bring.
• work with other Appropriate Adult services across London for reciprocal support arrangements for our vulnerable adults and young people, arrested outside of Enfield and Haringey.
• be part of National Appropriate Adults Network.
