SOCIAL BASELINE RESEARCH AND FUTURE SOCIAL IMPACT MONITORING
Main contract details
• Explore who is living in, working in and visiting the town centre, providing appropriate demographic analysis and insights
• Map local social networks and understand the social support in place for residents, visitors and workers
• Understand how different groups and communities are living together and interacting, and how and where relationships between people from different backgrounds play out in practice, identifying particular issues in social integration facing the town. This should include mapping areas of residence, work and other activities which may be outside central Croydon, therefore travel distances and clusters of diasporas and other social groups will be important to understand
• Analyse available data and understand views about quality of life, public and community facilities, health, wellbeing, belonging and safety in the town centre and in relation to perceptions of the central Croydon regeneration programme. Identify any gaps in the available data during this process.
• Understand how existing social infrastructure is being used by residents from different backgrounds, as well as people visiting and working in Croydon (including Croydon residents from other areas), and whether/how this is supporting social integration and ‘good growth’. This should include spatial mapping, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis
• Establish a set of indicators and a framework/methodology for periodic future research that can be used to monitor the social impact of the regeneration in future years.
The council would welcome the involvement of academic partners to support and validate this research.
