Description
Beverley Road has been identified as a key priority regeneration area within the most recent City Plan, as one of the oldest routes into the city, and because of its strategic location as the principal gateway into the city from the north.

The Townscape Heritage project will work with property owners, local businesses and the local community to restore and conserve the heritage of Beverley Road, to make it a better place for people to live, work and visit, and help local people research, celebrate and look after the important heritage of the area.

The project covers the south end of Beverley Road Conservation Area, between Queens Road and Freetown Way. The project will provide restoration grants to owners of some of the key historic properties, to help them carry out much needed conservation repairs to the exterior of their buildings.

In addition to the grant scheme for individual property owners the project aims to deliver a programme of public realm and boundary treatment works complimented by a series of education and outreach activities. The principal works will comprise improvement works to property boundaries.
The works will focus on the repair and / or reinstatement of traditional boundary treatments (including replacing railings, where these have previously been lost) at key points along Beverley Road that will provide high impact improvements early in the projects lifetime.
