Description
The Weighbridge to Town Centre Surface Water Link and the Fort Regent Cavern Storm Water Storage Tank (herein referred to as the Cavern) were designed to alleviate overflowing of the town’s sewerage system during periods of high rainfall. The storage tank provides the facility for diluted effluent to be retained rather than being discharged directly to sea. The storage capacity is approximately 25,000m3.

Once a period of heavy rainfall has come to an end the retained effluent can then be pumped from the Cavern back into the main sewerage system for onward pumping to the Bellozanne STW for treatment.

The MCC panel and lighting distribution boards for the Cavern are located in the control room adjacent to the roadway entrance and were replaced in 2021. However, the Cavern main ventilation fan system (except fan motor) consists of the originally installed equipment, when the site was put into service circa 1998. It has now come to the end of its asset life and therefore needs to be replaced in its entirety. The main purpose of the Works shall be to replace the main ventilation fan system, excluding the power and control cables to the MCC.

Site work can only take place once the Cavern has been taken out of service and cleaned down by I&E Pumping Station team who are the asset owners of the Cavern. This typically takes place during April/May, depending on weather and other influencing factors. Following annual cleaning and maintenance works, the existing main ventilation fan system shall be dismantled and removed from Site. Once completed the Purchaser will make the site available to the Contractor for the site installation works to begin.

A site visit to allow the Tenderer to finalise their Tender submission will be arranged with the Contracting Authority during the Tender Period. It is strongly advised that the Tenderers arrange a site visit during this period to fully satisfy themselves of the scope and nature of project.
