Title
PRJ 690 South West London Clinical Commissioining Groups - Integrated Urgent Care Service Market Testing
Categories
85000000-9 - Health and social work services
Description
South West London Alliance (SWLA), as the Coordinating Commissioner for all SWL CCGs (Croydon, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth), will be market testing its proposed Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) approach to obtain the views of providers and to help better understand the provider market.
Current SWL IUC Service
The current SWL NHS 111 service is staffed by fully-trained Health Advisors (non-clinicians who use the NHS Pathways triage tool), supported by Clinical Advisors (nurses and paramedics). The 111 service is linked to three GP Out-of-Hours services (OOH), providing coverage for the six CCGs: East Berkshire GP OOH providing for Richmond and CUCA providing for Croydon; these are commissioned separately by the relevant CCGs. SELDOC provides for the other four CCG areas as a sub-contractor of the IUC lead, Vocare, through a separate company, SLDUC. Each of the OOH services offers triage, base appointments and home visits, in line with patient need. 111 can book directly into base appointments where available.
The vision is for an IUC Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) that will streamline and improve patient care throughout the urgent care community, through the implementation of the “consult and complete” model, whereby a high proportion of calls can be closed by the service with advice and/or an appropriate prescription or the patient is directed onward with a booked appointment for further face-to-face clinical contact.
Therefore, a market testing engagement event will be held to inform the provider market and seek feedback from providers on the proposed models to inform the service design. The event will be held on Wednesday, 21st November 2018, from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm, Antoinette Hotel, The Broadway, Wimbledon, SW19 1SD. Registration, with tea/coffee available, starts from 11:00 am for a prompt 11:30 am start.
Below is a brief summary of the event:
Session 1 – The SWL IUC Service Specification
The purpose of this session is to give providers an overview of the aims that SWL has for its new IUC service specification, to share proposed model options, and allow providers the opportunity to ask questions about the specification.
A high-level view of the aims and outcomes that SWL is looking for has been published with this advert.
Session 2 – The Proposed Models Workshop
The purpose of this session is to gain feedback from providers on the proposed models in order to inform the design for SWL’s IUC service.
Although these market-testing events do not form any part of the formal procurement process, they will inform how the new service is commissioned. Information gained from this event will be used to inform the final service specification and expected outcomes from any potential, future procurement process.
Further information will be published in advance of the event to allow time for providers to consider the proposed SWL IUC service model and participate in the event.
Interested attendees will also have the opportunity to have discussions with SWLA’s team to explore further the ideas brought out in the Q&A sessions.
