Continuing Health Care Advanced Training

Cornwall Council is conducting a soft market assessment to engage with the market to commission 3 x Continuing Healthcare (CHC) Training sessions for 2026/27 at an Advanced Level for Social Workers, Social Care Practitioners, Therapy Staff, Team Leaders, and other front line staff involved in the CHC process.

This soft market assessment aims to understand provider capability, gather feedback, and inform procurement decisions.

Participation of this soft market assessment will not prejudice suppliers participating in any future procurement.

We are seeking CHC Advanced level training for our front line staff, including Social Workers, Social Care Practitioners, Team Leaders, Occupational Therapy Staff and others who may be involved with the CHC process.

The aim of the training is to strengthen practitioners’ understanding of NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC), enabling them to effectively contribute within a multi-agency context. This includes supporting the identification of potential eligibility, informing assessment processes, and confidently working alongside individuals, families, and partners in navigating complex CHC decision-making pathways.

The training should focus on the following Key Learning Outcomes, please note, these are not an exhaustive list:

• Identify individuals with a primary health need.
• Apply CHC concepts to case examples.
• Understand ICB duties.
• Apply decision-making principles.
• Analyse the Decision Support Tool (DST).
• Collate evidence for decisions.
• Explain care planning roles.
• Identify joint funding scenarios.
• Challenge CHC decisions appropriately.
