<p>The London Borough of Croydon will be seeking to appoint a high quality and client centred integrated community drug and alcohol service for adults and young people.</p>
<p>Croydon is a thriving cultural hub with a fast growing population that is projected to rise from over 380,000 to 445,000 by 2031.</p>
<p>There are an estimated 5,300 dependent drinkers and users of opiates and / or crack amongst adults in Croydon. Almost 80% of these are <strong>not</strong> currently known to treatment.? Latest estimates break this down to show that there were approximately 1,900 opiate and / or crack cocaine users (OCUs) and 3,400 dependent drinkers in Croydon.</p>
<p>In 2018/19, a total of 1,179 Croydon adults were in specialist drug and/or alcohol treatment.</p>
<p>In 2018/19, a total of 153 children and young people from Croydon were accessing specialist drug and alcohol services.</p>
<p>Our Corporate Plan gives emphasis to health, happiness, independence, prosperity, and reducing inequalities; as well as a continuation of our focus on safeguarding the most vulnerable Croydon residents, and driving improvements to our children’s services. We know that there is very rarely a one-size-fits-all solution - we want to offer the right services or support, at the right time, and in the right place to our residents who need treatment and recovery support for drug and alcohol use.</p>
<p>We are looking to work with providers who offer the following:</p>
<p>Community Drug and Alcohol Prevention, Engagement, Treatment and Recovery services for Adults and Young People. Elements covered will include, but not be restricted to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Prevention initiatives</li>
<li>Clinical/prescribing interventions and Psychosocial interventions</li>
<li>Think Family approach with holistic, person centred care</li>
<li>Sustainable recovery support to include Peer mentoring/service user involvement</li>
<li>Family/carers support</li>
<li>Access to inpatient detoxification & residential rehabilitation</li>
<li>Partnership working</li>
</ul>
<p>There will be a focus on delivering early support for families and a preventative approach to young peoples’ use.</p>
<p>High level outcomes to achieve include: A reduction in substance misuse related harm through effective early intervention; Improved health and wellbeing for individuals and freedom from dependence on drugs or alcohol; A reduction in offending.</p>
<p>We anticipate that we will be carrying out a compliant OJEU tender from January to March 2021, with the new service in place by 1 October 2021.</p>
