Eldene Community Centre – External Improvement Works
Swindon Borough Council is seeking suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake the External Improvements Works located at Eldene Community Centre, Eldene, Swindon, SN3 3RZ.

Swindon Borough Council requires a contractor to supply and install external cladding systems to all elevations, including the underside of the main entrance canopy. The design, supply and installation of emergency lighting in accordance with BS 5266. As well as, the supply and installation of a high-level teleflex manual winding gear window operating system. In addition to various minor works to external areas around the building.

The principal construction services required will comprise:-
• Provision of scaffolding to enable the safe execution of the works.
• Relocation or removal of existing live or redundant wires/cabling/trunking, to enable the safe execution of the works.
• Remove defective paving treads and brickwork risers from the external main entrance masonry staircase and replace as necessary, in addition to the raking out and repointing of defective mortar joints and make good as required.
• Remove existing PVC external cladding system from all elevations, including the removal of the “tongue and groove” timber panel cladding located to the underside of the main entrance canopy.
• Installation of an external cladding system to all elevations, including the underside of the main entrance canopy.
• Installation of an emergency lighting system to external areas to comply with BS 5266.
• Installation of a high-level teleflex manual winding gear window operating system to high-level windows within the main hall.
• Minor works to include; removal of dental boxes and making good, cutting back of ivy growth, replacement of damaged glazed units to windows and handrail, cleaning of stained brickwork, redecoration to steel railings, and various repairs to above-ground drainage and defective brickwork.
• The testing and commissioning of all electrical and mechanical equipment to be supplied and installed as part of the installation of the emergency lighting system and the high-level teleflex manual winding gear window operating system.
• The provision of any O & M manuals in cd format required in order to practically complete the works.
The contract will be let to a single contractor for a 7 week period.
The evaluation of tenders will be based on 70% price 30% quality.
Notification of intent and clarifications to the tender may be submitted up to 12 noon local UK time on Monday 22nd May 2017 by email to Christopher Smalley at csmalley@swindon.gov.uk.
All clarifications relating to the tender will be posted on the Supplying The South West portal and contractors will be required to check on a regular basis. You will not be automatically notified when an update to the clarification log is made.
Responses are required to be submitted in alignment with the tender document no later than 12 noon local UK time on Monday 29th May 2017.
