Alexandra Park in Bath is home to what was recently voted the best view of the city, towering above the steep wooded hillside of Beechen Cliff.

The Council is keen to provide better access for wheelchair users throughout the viewing area and to install more seating to improve the visitor attraction at this very popular location.

An outline plan for the area has been produced which includes construction and landscaping work to include:

• The construction of a wheelchair accessible access route from the raised viewing area to the tarmacadam access path and the installation of surrounding self-binding gravel to cover desire lines used by the public walking between the road and the access paths.
• The installation of a tree protection cellular confinement system and Breedon 'Wayfarer' gravel (6mm-fines) or similar ornamental self-binding to provide hard-surfacing between the road and the raised viewing area.
• The construction of two new seating areas with retaining walls.
• The removal of redundant timber edging and the replacement of 3 x rotten sleeper timbers
• The construction of three informal paths using Breedon 'Wayfarer' gravel (6mm-fines) or similar ornamental self-binding gravel following the routes shown in the plan in Appendix 3.
• The construction of a bespoke raised seating area.
• The provision and installation of three large sitting/picnic stones
