<p>Corserv on behalf of Cormac Solutions Ltd wish to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified contractor to undertake major maintenance works on the cable stay Camel footbridge in Wadebridge safeguarding the structure for continued use, under an NEC Option A ECS (Engineering &amp; Construction Subcontract). *Scope of Works The Camel Footbridge carries the maintainable public footpath over the River Camel between Egloshayle Road and Wadebridge Town centre. The structure consists of a two span cable stayed suspension bridge. The total length is 62m with a main span of 40m. The bridge tower support is founded within the River bed and extends 16m high above the deck. The bridge consists of a steelwork deck frame and tower with timber decking and aluminium balustrading. The deck is suspended from 8 pairs of steel cables (16 cables and 32 connectors). The bridge steel and timber elements were previously repainted and treated in 2009, see included document Camel Footbridge Construction Report, Maintenance Manual and Health and Safety File (Report No: S3444/HB814/Con1). The Principal Inspection (Report ref: UU6311/CFB/JANUARY 2019 - Issue 1) undertaken in 2018, highlighted a number of defects that require remedial work. The project aim is to undertake major maintenance works on the cable stay Camel footbridge in Wadebridge safeguarding the structure for continued use. Please see location map, Principal Inspection report, As-built drawings and other Site information in the folder called SI Please see Works information in the folder titled WI The proposed works include provision of all staff/labour/resources necessary to design, supply and install the following :- In accordance with the document titled &lsquo;PCI WI &ndash; Camel Footbridge Rev 1.pdf&rsquo; and section 3.0 Works Information) ; &bull; 1. Remove, replace and correctly tension all 16 existing cables, 16 tensioners and 32 connectors (including rigging screws). &bull; 2. Re-paint the areas of steel highlighted in the painting and cleaning schedule provided to the required paint specification, see Appendix E - Specification. &bull; 3. The existing timber deck elements; Balau timber deck planks (50x100mm), timber support/facing panels (50x300mm) on both elevations and packer boards (50mm thick), will be replaced with rot-resistant glass fibre anti-slip boards, designed to look like the existing timber handrails. The proposed deck is to be designed by the subcontractor in accordance with the relevant parts of the Eurocodes and meet the relevant requirements of DMRB CD 353. Design to be undertaken in accordance with Works Information in the PCI document and to allow for issue of design and drawings to Cormac for approval. This is to be shown on the tenderers programme and reflected in their Activity Schedule. The tenderer must prepare a suitable Activity Schedule sufficiently broken down to identify works planned and to work with the programme. Cormac will be Principal Contractor for the works. Cormac will also manage the following stakeholder consultation to obtain the necessary consents and approvals: &bull; Padstow Harbour Master - Harbour master approval required &bull; CC for TM bookings and footpath diversion The successful tenderer if appointed will seek and gain consent from the MMO as below: &bull; MFA Marine Consents (MMO) - MMO licence required Specific Works Location The pedestrian bridge crosses the river Camel with surrounding public park environment. Site Specific Details The works will be undertaken on the Camel footbridge above the river Camel. Please refer to PCI for information on risks and hazards and existing conditions and constraints at the site. Also refer to the other documents, drawings and records supplied as Site Information/Works Information which details existing conditions (structure and location) and proposed works. The intention is to award the contract to the most economically advantageous tenderer based on 30% Quality and 70% Price.
