Description

Portal Contract Reference: DN532298 Internal Contract Reference: LBS IoT Fly Tipping Opportunity Contract Title: Fly Tipping IoT Programme Initial Contract Duration: 12 months Extensions: 12/24 month pricing subject to Council budget holders interest, so Estimated Contract Value : £150-175k Description: The issue of fly-tipping in certain areas of the borough of Sutton is well known. Fly-tipping is a nuisance, it directly impacts on people's lives along with the opinion of the area, attracts vermin, further fly-tip and other anti-social behaviour. Fly-tipping is costly to resolve and may also contain chemicals or material such as asbestos which is harmful to health and safety. In 2020, there was a monthly average of 319 fly-tips reported to the council. SCRAP IT campaign was launched last year in partnership with Veolia, idverde, Met Police, SHP, Metropolitan Housing and SLWP to help tackle fly-tipping hotspots. The implementation of correx signs and banners at hotspots, along with complementary social media posts and localised letter drops, helped to raise awareness of fly-tipping and reduce instances at known hot-spots. Signage in position for approx 3 months before being moved to other known fly-tipping hotspots. Plan to move regularly so signage does not become ‘wallpaper’ and ignored by residents. Sensors could be used to further enhance the campaign hot-spots and capture evidence that could be used for Enforcement purposes. This will strengthen the SCRAP IT campaign and reassure residents the council is working to prevent fly-tipping. The London Borough of Sutton invites interested and suitable companies to attend a bidder briefing session via Google Meet on Friday the 18th March 2021. Engagement sessions with members of the Council’s IoT Programme Office will be offered by appointment only. Interested bidders will be able to download a presentation pack via the portal from Tuesday 16th of March 2021. The Council would like to extend this invitation to companies and organisations of all sizes including local SMEs.
