Procurement of Primary Care Psychological Therapies Service (PCPTS) for Improved Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) for NHS West Kent CCG (the Commissioner).

Across Kent and Medway the estimated adult population 18-74 years old is 1,840,000, of these 325,680 (17.7%) may have common mental health disorders (CMD) and 48,852 (15%) may enter PCPTS. Within West Kent it is estimated that 40,240 have CMD of which a minimum of 6076 (15%) may access PCPTS.
The development of the IAPT Service has been undertaken considering the needs of the whole population including prevalence and incidence of common mental health disorders.

The service required is for a community-based Psychological Therapies service to deliver a range of services to people with common mental health disorders.
The Commissioner is seeking to engage a single provider to deliver the range of services, potentially through a lead provider (LP) and a network of sub-contractors.
The LP must provide a single point of access to psychological therapies, offering a stepped care model of service, focusing particularly on the development of new low and high-intensity psychological therapy services in the early steps of the relevant NICE model of care.
The service must provide a range of evidence-based interventions at each step in the pathway and support people in their choice of interventions.

The contract will be for an initial three-year term, with an optional two-year extension. The contract value covers both the initial term and the extension.
