You are invited to the forthcoming Gritting Tender Engagement Day. Manchester City Council Highway maintenance team would welcome your participation in an industry briefing event for the forthcoming tender.

Background
Manchester City Council (the Council) will be seeking tenders in respect of a new collaborative 6-year Gritting Contract that will include an option to Extend by a further 2-years e.g., an 8-Year Contract on offer. In advance of finalising the final elements of the tender the Council wishes to engage suppliers interested in tendering for the service.
A Single Supplier will be awarded the contract to work with the Council’s Highways Client team to deliver this contract each season.
The Contract will adopt the NEC4 Term Service Contract and tenders will be assessed on a combination of quality, price, social value and carbon reduction.
Outcome to be delivered.
The Council’s goal for the Contract is to provide a combination of Value and Resilience to the Winter service whilst meeting Service Level Agreements (response times) and KPIs.
This will be achieved through tender selection and ongoing contract performance evaluation during the contract period along with continual improvement driving efficiency and effectiveness of this service through collaboration.
Fleet
8 No 4-wheel gritting waggons
3 No mini gritters for footways and Cycle lanes, and hand-held backpack gritters for those hard-to-reach places.
Anticipated Spend
Based on historical estimates over the duration of the contract, it’s estimated to be circa £1m per annum at current forecast expenditure however the Council will consider innovation that may reduce this value.
