Provision of IHC/ISH for Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea and Sutton sites

HRH The Duke of Cambridge became President of The Royal Marsden in 2007, following a long royal connection with the hospital. The Royal Marsden, with the ICR, is the only National Institute for Health Research Biomedical Research Centre dedicated solely to cancer. First awarded the status in 2006, it was re-awarded in 2011 and again in 2016. A total of £62 million was provided over five years in 2011 to support pioneering research work and was shared across eight different cancer themes. In 2016 as further £45 million was provided for us to continue with this life-changing work. The Royal Marsden has a track record of the highest standards of performance in the quality and efficiency of services delivered to patients. The 2014 Annual Inpatients Survey placed The Royal Marsden among the best performing trusts in the country and in 2018 the CQC categorised the Royal Marsden overall as Outstanding.
Today, The Royal Marsden, in association with The Institute of Cancer Research, has an unrivalled worldwide reputation for its patient care, cancer research and education.
For the purpose of this tender the contract will cover the immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in-situ hybridisation (ISH) provision for the department of Cellular Pathology (Chelsea site), including optimisation, verification and validation of antibodies IQC and any support services related to the delivery of the service.
The Trust is asking service providers to deliver a contract that will
• Install and maintain a comprehensive solution for the IHC and ISH service provision for the department of Cellular Pathology (Chelsea and Sutton sites)
• Provide all reagents and ancillary consumables at the required frequency to deliver the service described
• Provide the necessary IT connectivity to integrate the equipment into the Laboratory Information Management System and enable laboratory management to analyse the data
• Provide other services, such as practical support for optimisation, initial validation and verification, training, contract management support, reagents and other consumables supply and value-added items such as service improvement
• Allow for new instrumentation, processes, reagents and software which may come online during the contract
The Trust requests the following options for provision of these services:
1. a cost per test “reagent rental” contract for Chelsea site
2. a capital expenditure plus reagents contract for Chelsea site
3. a cost per test “reagent rental” contract for Sutton site
4. a capital expenditure plus reagents contract for Sutton site
5. a managed service contract for Chelsea site
6. a managed service contract for Sutton site

However, bidders are advised that the Invitation to Tender documents are provided for information only at this stage and are only to be completed by Bidders who are successful in being shortlisted to the ITT Stage. Top 6 suppliers with the highest scores from SQ stage will be invited to the ITT stage and then ask to complete the remaining documents.
