Description
The Council is keen to commission evidence to align with a new economic vision and direction for the Borough and consists of technical studies updating the employment needs and land supply position together with an update to the retail and commercial leisure evidence base. The studies also include technical advice on a range of employment land and town centre strategy considerations.

Lot A – Employment Needs and Land Supply Study: Key elements of Lot A include economic profiling and economic market analysis, together with detailed work on employment needs and space requirements together with employment land, premises and space analysis. A review of land demand and supply balance also forms part of the commissioning together with setting a positive framework for skills to support growth and a range of focused conclusions and recommendations.

Lot B – Retail and Main Town centre Uses Needs Study: Core elements of the study include setting a broad strategic overview of retail and town centre changes and health check analysis on Swindon Town centre and other locations to include primary research in the form of household and shopper surveys. Analytical work is also required on establishing future retailing and town centre use needs and futureproofing for further changes through spatial strategies and effective local policies.
