Tameside Community Stop Smoking Service
Main contract details
The aim of the Community Stop Smoking Support Service is to deliver stop smoking support to high-risk residents within Tameside.
The service will work in partnership with other commissioned services operating within Tameside who support high-risk residents through their service – such as CGL, Jigsaw Support, as well as delivering outreach into the community to target high-risk, high-prevalence and vulnerable smokers who are less likely to access services generally.
The service will support Tameside’s ambition to reduce health inequalities and ensure fairer health for all. The service will align activity with the national approach to reducing health care inequalities, Core20PLUS5, the GM Fairer Health for All framework and the Tameside Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy and Locality Plan.
The Be Well service will operate as the ‘Hub’ and the community stop smoking service will form a ‘Spoke’ along with the GP and Pharmacy offer to ensure that service delivery is linked and cohesive.
To ensure the service is accessible and equitable, the community stop smoking service will also develop and deliver targeted communications aimed at high-risk and high-prevalence groups. The community stop smoking service will establish a network of Tobacco-free Champions across Tameside who will deliver outreach within communities and engage where traditional services may struggle to access. The Tobacco-free Champions will also deliver Making Every Contact Count (MECC) training to further upskill and empower people in Tameside to support smokers to quit. The service will also facilitate venue hires and interpreter support where required.
