Description
Cheshire East Council are currently reviewing the accommodation-based respite for people who have a learning disability and/or autism who may display behaviour that challenges, including those with a mental health condition and physical disabilities.
Respite for people with learning disabilities is currently delivered in a number of different locations and settings.
• Commissioned respite – 4 flats covering locations in Crewe and Handforth – this is based on a short term supported living model, with self-contained accommodation on an existing supported living site.
• In house provision – 4 beds at Warwick Mews in Macclesfield – this is based on a residential care model, with shared communal accommodation.
Care homes and other services can also provide respite in times when we are unable to utilise the above facilities.
These services have been in place for several years and the time has come for, the Council to review the current offer and consider what is the best way in the future to provide support to those who access learning disabilities respite services in Cheshire East. As a guide for providers we are seeking to have our new respite model in place by 1 March 2025.
Completion of this questionnaire is intended to enable us to hear from providers that would be interested in participating in potential future procurement activities and will assist us in gauging the likely interest. Your responses will be used by commissioners, in commercial confidence, to help produce an outline business case, which it is intended will be used to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of procuring a contract for Respite Provision for the specified client group.
