Description
Cumbria County Council’s Extra Care Housing Delivery Programme aims to support partner organisations to develop additional Extra Care Housing services in Cumbria. One of the key strands of this programme is the Extra Care Housing Grant Award Programme which provides an opportunity for developers to come forward with proposals for new Extra Care Housing schemes. The Council can periodically open grant application windows which may target developments in a particular area of Key Service Centre. Further details can be found within our Grant Prospectus.

The Council has identified Barrow-in-Furness as a key priority area for the development of Extra Care Housing. Interested developers are therefore invited to make the Council aware of any potential development opportunities or available sites within the area. We are not looking for fully worked up design proposals at this stage, just potential opportunities which deliver upwards of 40 units of Extra Care in one location. If one or more potentially workable sites come forward as part of this process, the Council may elect to open a grant funding window (although is under no obligation to do so).

Full details of the Council’s Extra Care Development Programme can be found on the Extra Care Housing pages of the Council’s website www.cumbria.gov.uk/healthsocialcare/ech. Potential development sites should be sent to ECH_SLDevelopment@cumbria.gov.uk by 6 March 2020 at the latest for consideration.
