Main contract details
works:
1. GPR clearance of all exploratory locations;
2. Establish the location and ground elevation level for all investigative positions (relative to OSGB36 and Ordnance Datum levels to appropriate land surveying standards and tolerances).
3. The Contractor shall coordinate this information with the existing topographical survey data for the site. This information shall be presented on an as-built or as-installed drawing, which will be made available to the Investigation Supervisor in digital/electronic format.
4. Appropriate welfare facilities for the investigation to be determined based on the programme of works and relevant to the number of workers proposed to be on site.
5. Provision of health and safety documentation to comply with both health and safety and CDM regulations. Noting the known ground contamination on site, the GI contractor should also outline their proposed methodology of clean drilling and sampling of the contaminated soils and groundwater.
6. A pre-start site meeting will be organised once the ground investigation contractor has been appointed to allow overview of access and to allow the contractor to provide a programme of works along with a movement plan around the site to aid access.
7. 10 Cable Percussion (CP) boreholes to depths of 23.00m bgl or terminating on the surface of the Chalk, whichever is deepest, with alternating SPTs and Undisturbed sampling (in suitable cohesive soils) throughout the length of the boreholes;
8. 3 follow on Rotary Cored (RC) exploratory boreholes extending a minimum of three core runs into the Chalk bedrock, or 30.00m bgl, whichever is greater;
9. 14 windowless sampling (WS) boreholes to a depth of 5.00m bgl or refusal, whichever is greater.
10. 22 mechanically excavated trial pits (TP) to a minimum depth of 3.50m bgl or to refusal.
11. 28 Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs) to depths of 25.00m bgl, or refusal at a similar depth.
12. Duplicate CPT tests with a Membrane Interface Probe (MIP) shall be undertaken at locations within the Area 3 hotspot. In these areas, it is envisaged that the MIP test should be run to 20.00m bgl first, with a standard CPT piezocone probe test to 25.00m bgl being carried out approximately 0.5m adjacent to the MIP test.
13. Installation of groundwater and ground gas well monitoring locations within selected WS and CP locations.
14. Laboratory testing of geotechnical and geo-environmental soil samples is required. A
schedule of laboratory testing is to be supplied;
15. Post investigation - Falling head and recharge testing within select boreholes;
16. Laboratory testing of geo-environmental water samples is required. Schedule of laboratory
