St Helens Older Peoples Forum
Main contract details
Details of the opportunity follow:
The most significant demographic change in St Helens in the next two decades will be the increasing number of old people. This will have an impact on health and social care services such as carers, respite provision and for services for people with long term health conditions such as COPD and dementia.
It is recognised that older people have a wealth of skills, experience and knowledge that they have amassed over their lifetime. As part of integrated Health and Social Care commitment to engagement and consultation and the CCG Engagement Strategy, the views of older people across St Helens are important. This will ensure services are meeting local need and to identify unmet need and assess quality as part of the service review framework within commissioning.
The St Helens Older Peoples Forum will provide a collective voice for older people in St Helens and will seek to influence and encourage the development of services which improve the quality of life of all older people in the borough.
The aims of the St Helens Older Peoples Forum will be to
• Act as an independent ‘voice and ‘champion’ for older people in the borough of St. Helens.
• Influence the policy, planning, commissioning and delivery of publicly funded health, social care and wellbeing services.
• Address key issues facing older people including isolation, loneliness, care and support needs, financial matters and accessing local services and groups.
• Work in partnership with statutory/voluntary agencies in the borough and to be at the forefront of decision making for older people.
• Inform and educate older people on issues that affect them and services provided across health and social care through the organisation of a range of consultations, events and meetings.
