Kent County Council would like to invite quotes for culverted water course gauging.
The Flood and Water Management Team at Kent County Council undertakes the council’s duties as the Lead Local Flood Authority for Kent, including investigations into significant flood events. Repeated incidences of flooding have occurred around three culverted ordinary watercourses in Kent. Two in Tunbridge Wells, the River Grom and the High Brooms Stream, and one in Ightham, the Busty Stream.
Due to historical development, these watercourses are significantly culverted throughout their length, which causes and exacerbates flooding. These watercourses are currently ungauged and we are unaware of the flow regime or capacity of the watercourses under normal or flood conditions.
Therefore we would like to install gauges on these watercourses to gather data on the level and/or flow in them.
Please see the attached specification for further information about the work.
It is anticipated that at least two weeks’ notice will need to be given to the landowner prior to accessing any land for site visits. We would seek to complete the installation of the gauges by March 2018 at the latest.
Quotations must be submitted by 12pm November 6th.
All correspondence and quotations must be submitted via the Kent Business Portal.
