Support, Learning and Play Service
Main contract details
North Somerset Council are exploring options for the provision of family support, early learning and play service for children aged 0-5 year olds with additional needs and their families in North Somerset.
It is thought the main elements of the service will include (but not limited to):
1) Family support
• To provide 1 to 1 and group support to families with children aged 0-5 years with additional needs. Support may be of an emotional, educational, behavioural or clinical nature, usually based on a plan informed through assessment.
• To support the Council to update and maintain the Local Offer information, as well as specifically providing information, advice and guidance for parents to access Children’s Centres and other appropriate services.
• To work in partnership with other agencies involved with the child to develop and implement individual plans including Education, Health and Care plans and Early Help plans.
2) Early learning and childcare workforce development
• Training and practical support with registered early education providers in the North Somerset area who deliver the Early Years Foundation stage to 2, 3 and 4 year olds.
• A SENCO type service which will work in partnership with the Early Years.
3) Children’s play sessions
• To design, promote and deliver play sessions
The prospective provider of the service must:
• Be based locally in North Somerset (or be prepared to set up a base within North Somerset before the contract starts) and support the use of local volunteers.
• Have a proven track record of delivering similar services in the area.
• Have links within the communities of North Somerset, all Special and Primary schools and the Childcare sector in the area.
• Be able to start the service on 1 April 2017.
The prospective provider should ideally be a voluntary sector organisation with parent led governance incorporating service users and their families.
