Description
Merseytravel has, since 1992, issued Fast Tags to customers and currently administers approximately 65,000 Fast Tag accounts and 23,000 Concessionary Fast Tag accounts, for pre-paid travel through the Mersey Tunnels. Merseytravel require a suitable supplier for the provision of 5.8GHZ DSRC Fast Tags/On Board Units/Transponders to meet the following requirements: -

• Fast Tags should be compatible with MELODHY RECYTALE short range desk top beacon and must be compatible with the ARMONHY CS220 toll lane beacon produced by CSSI (now Emovis).

• Fast Tags should have a minimum battery lifespan of 7 years and must be supplied with a warranty period. The supplier should meet any costs for the return and replacement of any faulty Tags.

• The Tag should be light, but robust, with an indelible unique serial number applied by the manufacturer prior to delivery. The serial number should be embedded within the operations of the Tag to ensure when the Tag is encoded or read it is recognised by the system.

• Each Tag must be supplied with a holder for correct positioning and fixing to the vehicle windscreen, it should allow for quick and easy insertion/removal of the tag. Additional holders should also be available for purchase.

• Merseytravel require the print and factory adhesion of personalised labels to each Tag which should remain fixed and legible throughout the life of the Tag.

• Merseytravel envisages an annual order of approximately 25,000 tags, however, exact supplies of Tags will be determined by customer demand and can fluctuate.

The contract will be for 4 years in a Single Party Framework agreement.

Merseytravel are currently reviewing the electronic tolling system and require the option to move to alternative payment methods within the 4 year period.
