The Supply of Refuse Collection Vehicles to Swindon Borough Council

Swindon Borough Council invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced service providers for the provision of refuse collection vehicles.

Project Description

Swindon Borough Council wishes to submit to tender the requirements for the provision of Refuse Collection Vehicles suitable to deliver an efficient waste and recycling collection service within the local authority area. The purchases may be phased over a period of 3 years, with the first batch ordered within 3 months of contract award.

This opportunity is split into 3 lots as below.

Lot 1 is for vehicle specifications A & B.

Specification A: 26,000kg GVW (Gross vehicle weight) Refuse vehicle with a mid-steer chassis configuration and standard compaction unit body for the purpose of general household waste collection (wheelie bins & bags), green waste (wheelie bins & bags) collection & plastic recycling collection (bagged and manually loaded).

Specification B: Right Hand Drive 26000kgs Rear steer vehicle to be fitted with trade (1100 litre) type bin lift.

Lot 2 is for vehicle specifications C & D.

Specification C: Right Hand Drive vehicle up to 18000kgs 4 x 2 configuration for the purpose of household waste bag collection routes (manually loaded)

Specification D: Right Hand Drive vehicle up to 18000kgs 4 x 2 for the purpose of household waste wheelie bin collection routes with occasional manual loading of bags.

Lot 3 is for vehicle specifications A,B,C & D.

Contract Period

The contract will be for a period of 10 years commencing April 2016. This is a competitive tender, and a contract will be awarded to the organisation that is deemed to represent the most economical and advantageous tender.

Tender Responses are required to be submitted no later than 7th March 2016, 12.00GMT by hardcopy to Martin Britchford only.

Clarifications to the Contract Attachments maybe submitted up to 29th February 2016, 12.00 GMT by email to Martin Britchford at mbritchford@swindon.gov.uk.

The Council’s responses to these clarification questions will be uploaded as attachments on the project webpage attachments section. Therefore it is the Contractor’s responsibility to check the site regularly for updates to clarifications, as you will not be advised when updates have been made.
