Description

Date: Wednesday 27 July 2022

Time: 10am – 11am

Venue: Online – MS Teams

Summary:

Islington Council invites any interested organisations to attend a virtual Good Practice Workshop to further develop the Council’s ambitions for Home Care.

In the coming months, Islington will be conducting a procurement exercise to commission a new enabling, more flexible model of home care. This Workshop will build on the previous market warming events by giving providers the opportunity to shape the development of the service.

This will be an interactive event with active participation in a discussion on Good Practice. We ask that providers who attend have a working camera and microphone to be able to fully engage in the workshop.

The Council’s ambitions for Home Care are underpinned by our Adult Social Care vision for Islington to be a place made up of strong, inclusive, and connected communities, where regardless of background, people have fair and equal access to adult social care support that?enables residents to live healthy, fulfilling, and independent lives.

We believe good home care is about enabling residents to live good lives, with dignity, feeling safe and well supported. We want to work collaboratively with service providers to achieve this.

Islington Council understands these aspirations will require big changes which will not be achieved quickly. We would like to coproduce this transformation with providers to ensure plans are practical, achievable and reflect the views of the sector.

Service ambitions:

Our principal aim is to work with and support residents in different ways that:

increase independence and wellbeing,

limit additional intrusion in people’s lives,

reduce the demand of residents accessing more care than they need and for any longer than they need.

We want to compliment residents’ strengths, capabilities, and skills as part of a holistic support network that includes loved ones, neighbours and friends and the VCS.

We understand the pivotal role home care providers will play in realising this vision; the new model will rest on a more collaborative approach with home care providers. Home Care will be further integrated into the wider local health, social care and voluntary system and afforded more responsibility as providers are often best placed to understand a resident’s needs.

Event details:

The event will be held online, using Microsoft Teams. Please register your interest per the instructions below and you will be provided with the link to access the event.

A draft agenda is listed below, please note this may altered ahead of the event.

Brief Introduction and overview on proposed new model
