Bath and North East Somerset Council is alerting the market to an upcoming tender for Community Support Services: Day Opportunities, previously under a prime provider model since 2017, to improve outcomes for Adults and Carers, prevent health inequalities, and prevent, delay or reduce statutory care needs.

Lot 1: Community Social and Memory Support: £770,000

Lot 2: Day Opportunities for People with Dementia, Memory Enhancement Programs: £940,000

The Council’s objective is to promote mental and emotional wellbeing, support community engagement and enable independence.

Services Covered:

Lot 1: Community Social and Memory Support, (fostering social inclusion).

Lot 2: Day Opportunities for People with Dementia, Memory Enhancement Programs (tailored dementia support).

The service in Lot 1 will facilitate, enable and support a range of local day opportunities across various locations within Bath and North East Somerset that will provide physically and mentally stimulating activities that improve people’s wellbeing and quality of life and reduce social isolation.

The service in Lot 2 provides a structured and person-centred community-based service for older people who are living with dementia in B&NES. There will be 2 tiers to the service, one for people with mild to moderate dementia and one which will have a higher ratio of staff and can support people with more complex dementia. The Service will be welcoming in character, and the Provider will ensure that dementia-sensitive design principles for the environment are adhered to.

Procurement approach: Standalone Open Tender with 2 lots with services starting 1 January 2026. Social value (min 10% weighting) focuses on inclusion, accessibility, and volunteer opportunities. Mandatory requirements may include but will not be limited to: access to a venue appropriate for individuals living with dementia, 2 years’ experience or equivalent, £250k turnover, local capacity, and safeguarding. Objective: 20% isolation reduction.
