Description
<p>Kent County Council are looking to commission an organisation to deliver the Incredible Years Dinosaur Curriculum in Maidstone and Tonbridge and Malling areas. This Programme is a comprehensive theme-based social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving curriculum. The purpose of the curriculum is to teach children positive social skills, conflict and anger management skills, emotional literacy, appropriate school behaviours, and reading, writing and communication skills to promote their positive self-esteem and general social, emotional, and academic competence. Incredible Years Dinosaur Curriculum delivers to groups of up to 6 identified children, for 18-20 weeks, in a school setting. The sessions will be up to 60 mins. The programme will focus on 4&ndash;6-year-olds (transitioning from Early Years Setting to Reception and Reception to Year 1) who are struggling to manage the rigours of an education setting and are displaying challenging behaviour and/or poor social competence. The provider will target and work closely early years settings and schools to identify those who would benefit. The children may be displaying one or more of the following: oppositional, isolated, inattentive, impulsive, hyperactive, withdrawn, prone to peer ridicule and non-acceptance. We will be working with children whose needs have not yet been identified or those have been given a formal diagnosis. The outcomes of the project should aim to achieve:</p>
<p>&bull; Strong emotion-regulation and problem-solving skills to help children to cope with peer conflict, reduce aggressive responses, increase prosocial responses and be academically ready to learn.</p>
<p>&bull; Ability to identify and recognise emotions in self and others to helps children to develop emotional literacy, to problem solve and to understand and respond appropriately to social interactions with peers and adults.</p>
<p>&bull; Increased problem-solving skills to reduce children's use of aggressive and antisocial responses to peers and adults and improve the use of prosocial solutions to problems.</p>
<p>&bull; Increased school readiness skills (following directions, listening, paying attention) to improve compliance and attention in school settings</p>
<p>The maximum budget available for this project is &pound;15,998</p>
