On-Line Video Platform (OVP)

The Met Office serves large volumes of video content 24/7 both online and to partners, across multiple channels including the website and app. Delivering a consistently high-quality video experience across channels and fragmented devices requires a solution that is technically complex and therefore the business needs a specialist platform. We require a fully scalable and robust solution that is API driven and developer-friendly in order to integrate video playback across multiple sites and native applications.

An On-line Video Platform needs to provide a complete end-to-end solution for uploading, transcoding, managing, delivering, analysing, and monetising video content. It requires an easy to navigate User Interface (UI) to make the system accessible and easy to use for non-technical Met Office team members (Weather Desk for example upload content) it should also provide an extensive set of API's and SDK's that the Met Office development team can use to integrate with various platforms such as the native apps.
