Description

MALE AGE 16 Years old PLACEMENT – RESIDENTAL (under children’s home regulation) N is a 16-year-old male who has a caring nature and will try to support other young people around him when in a stable and positive mood. He likes to learn how to cook and has an interest in computers which he is skilled in using to do schoolwork or surf the web. N enjoys theme parks and really enjoys playing Fortnite on his Play Station. He enjoys watching you tube and music videos. He has shown an interest in photography and has a good sense of humour. N will respond positively to humour. During the last 3 months he has shown an aptitude for water sports and engaged well in a number of outdoor activities including paddle boarding, wild swimming and running. His care plan is one of long-term residential care until adult independence. The care plan also details that N receives support to reduce substance misuse, improve self-management of his mental health difficulties and to encourage N away from criminal and other anti-social behaviour. N can present as agitated when he doesn’t get the answer he wants but is more able to negotiate and try to understand the reasons for the answer. He has worked very positively with a clear roadmap of expectations which has allowed him to progress from 3:1 support to 1:1 and independent time. He is temporarily staying at an activity’s placement with a team of trained staff who look after him. Staff are supported by a psychotherapist to ensure that N receives nurturing therapeutic support. His long-term placement was ended due to concerns relating to criminal exploitation, his challenging behaviour and an allegation that he had been in a sexual relationship with another older female resident. This is not an ongoing relationship and there is no current communication between N and the other individual. N has made amazing progress and his DOLs order is due to end on 31st March. N is keen to settle and thrive and needs the right placement to do this. If you can offer this child a placement then please email placementsearches@wigan.gov.uk
