ENQ376 The Provision of Fluoride Varnishing Applications

Main contract details

Opportunity Id
DN253675
Title
ENQ376 The Provision of Fluoride Varnishing Applications
Categories
85000000-9 - Health and social work services
Description
Tenders are invited to deliver an evidence-based Fluoride Varnishing Programme, ensuring a minimum of 1 further application (due Sept/Oct 2017) of fluoride varnish is delivered to each child within this programme.
The target schools are Peartree Infants and Firs Estate Primary, with a potential combined cohort of up to 170 pupils, aged between 4 and 5 years.
The local Smile 4 Life pilot, commissioned by Public Health in Derby City Council, identified high levels of oral health need in six Derby Primary Schools in nursery (3-4 years) and reception (4-5 years) children in the most deprived areas of the City including Arboretum, Normanton, Abbey and Sinfin wards. The pilot also highlighted issues for families in accessing dental services in the city.

The current Oral Health Promotion Contract, provided by DCHS, ends on 31st March 2017. A new service model is currently being developed and a new specification is anticipated to commence by 1st May 2018 at the latest.

In order to ensure some continuity of service during the period between the current contract ceasing and the new one being in place, this specification seeks to ensure that fluoride varnishing is supported to continue in those settings where it is already underway. Without continuation of this service to ensure a minimum of two applications are delivered to children within a 12 month period, the service would deviate from evidence-based practice.

The contract is expected to commence 1st May 2017 and end 31st October 2017 and service will only operate during the school term time.

There is a fixed budget of £2,000 for this provision.
