005593 - Design & Build of Go Ultra Low Filling Stations - Market Consultation
Main contract details
back office support) of two Electric Vehicle Go Ultra Low Filling Stations (GULF’s). These will provide an innovative solution for urban/sub-urban densely populated areas where air quality and noise are a problem but
off street parking is scarce. Presently, two sites have been identified for the GULF’s; one at Science Central based in Newcastle City Centre and the second which will be based in Sunderland in close proximity to the A19 trunk road.
Although the two GULFS should show design similarities, there will be different objectives which each are required to achieve which may require the tender process to be individual lots, but the most appropriate
procurement structure will be discussed as part of the consultation exercise. The GULF on the Science Central Site is likely to contain 6 rapid chargers and a link to the energy storage testbed which is housed in the Urban Sciences Building to enable world-class research on energy systems integration and electric vehicle driving and charging behaviour.
The GULF on the A19 Sunderland Site is likely to contain 6 rapid chargers with the opportunity to include facilities to help support the promotion of electric vehicle driving and charging behaviour. The Sunderland Site is intended to serve the wider EV community for both public and business users.
In addition, the NECA also wish to procure small clusters of rapid chargers at various locations within the NECA area. It is our intention that the 2 projects are procured together under a collaborative procurement exercise which will be undertaken by Newcastle City Council.
