Market Engagement - Food Waste Treatment Services
Main contract details
Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) intends to procure a contract(s) for the treatment of food waste collected by the district councils. This market engagement exercise will help to inform us of:
• The potential level of interest in bidding for this contract.
• The capacity available to separately treat food waste for the next 8 to 10 years. We estimate there will be in the region of 23,000 tonnes of food waste available per annum for treatment initially, but this could increase due to population growth and increased participation in food waste collections. We have seen an average annual increase of around 1,000 tonnes per year over the past 5 years.
• The environmental and cost benefits of treatment solutions.
• Markets for products and residues (including reliability, and sustainability of markets).
• The nature of the contract required.
Gloucestershire County Council would like to invite any interested parties to take part in a confidential discussion on a 1-1 basis with members of the waste management team. If you would like to participate in this, please email
Roger Smith, Waste Contracts Manager
Email: roger.smith@gloucestershire.gov.uk
It is intended that discussions will take place on 14th August 2020 by conference facility (phone or video call). Please indicate in your response the times and dates available to you, providing a contact name and email address or telephone number.
To assist a constructive discussion, please would your organisation provide a written response to the questions set out by 12th August 2020.
