Leeds City Council’s internal service provider (ISP) for construction and repairs works building contractor (Leeds Building Services) is seeking to appoint 1 or more domestic rewiring contractor(s) after a competitive tendering exercise.
The proposed contractor(s) will be engaged in order to support and enhance the ISPs delivery capacity. Contracts are proposed to be for 3 years with the option to extend for 2 x 12 years and it is anticipated that expenditure will be approx. £350,000 per annum in total. Please note no minimum levels of works are guaranteed.
The works will be managed on site by the ISP but all electrical work shall be carried out by Contractor(s) who are members of an appropriate recognised regulatory body/Competent Person Scheme (CPS) and who are subject to regular rigorous assessments to confirm competency. Anyone working on or near electrical installation must be fully conversant with the aforementioned regulations, which will be detailed within the specification, when tendered. Liability sits completely with the person(s) who carries out work on or near electrical installations as a direct contravention of this clause. Ideally the contractor(s) should have a track record of delivering rewires to domestic properties.
The full scope of the works is as described below:
Scope of works
The works could consist of full or partial re-wires to both occupied and un-occupied (voids) domestic properties. This includes renewing consumer units, lighting circuits, sockets, cooker circuits, light points & switches etc. The work also potentially comprises of rewiring to off-peak facilities and installing double and quad pole isolators to the mains supply. In addition, the electrical capacity for the provision of rewires may be required to support the ISP in the delivery of kitchen and bathroom schemes.

On completion of the works all relevant certification must be provided and any other relevant information/documentation that may be required in order to comply with CDM regulations etc.

The works are described as isolated rewires in that they maybe in batches of properties in the same location or maybe isolated around the City, either way the works will only be for a rewire/partial rewire and making good and not for other associated works such as the installation of a kitchen or bathroom.
