The Fusiliers Museum - Refurbishment of Basement Area
Main contract details
It is hoped that the preferred supplier would be selected, following discussions, by 5th January 2024.
The refurbishment would include the following rooms:
• Large open plan room with stairway.
• One small room to provide a kitchenette.
• Three further small rooms to provide future storage facilities for any clubs or organisations.
• A Corridor leading to a toilet and shower.
• Toilet
• Conversion of Shower to storage room
• Stairway and Entrance
Large Open Plan Room. This will require redecoration of walls and staircase. The building of a stud wall across the right side of the room to case in piping and the revarnishing of the floor. The room will be cleared completely of existing furniture and fittings prior to work commencing. Light switch and electric socket upgrade. Press button lock on doors. Smoke alarms.
Kitchenette. Redecoration of walls and floor. Fitting of kitchen units sink and cupboards. Fitting of plumbing including hot water boiling tap. Electric socket renewal for appliances. All items (kitchen units/taps and sink) will be provided for by the museum as part of an external grant.
Three small rooms. Redecoration of walls and floor. Provision of new locks on doors. New light switches and possibly lights.
Corridor. Fitting of false ceiling and decoration. Change of light switches. New overhead lighting.
Toilet. Redecoration. New light fittings and switch.
Shower Conversion. Strip out and conversion to storage room. New locks and door furniture.
Stairway and Entrance. Painting of wrought iron staircase. Provision of secure door system to outside street. New security on door to museum. Possibly a new external door.
As indicated some items will be provided by the museum, mainly the kitchen items.

Please note that any resulting contract will be with the Fusiliers Museum direct as a registered charity and not with Bury Council.
This exercise will not be conducted via The Chest e-tendering portal and potential bidders are requested NOT to express interest via The Chest as this interest will not be actioned.
