Description

The City of York Council is seeking expressions of interest for the Healthwatch York service. The Council is seeking to identify providers that have the knowledge and experience of delivering the type of services that would be required in York from a Healthwatch provider and for the provider to express a genuine interest in submitting a tender in due course. Healthwatch York, a statutory service under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, is the independent consumer champion for both health and social care. The aim of the Healthwatch York commissioned service is to give citizens and communities a stronger voice to influence and challenge how health and social care services are provided within their locality. The primary task will be to gather evidence from people’s views and experiences about their local health and care services and to provide feedback based on that evidence. They will take this information and report the evidence to those in charge of arranging and funding services and making decisions – and those providing services – about the quality of care, including through statutory representation on the local health and wellbeing board. This should help to ensure that those who make decisions about health and care services can be aware of and act and respond quickly to concerns. Local Healthwatch organisations will also feed this evidence into Healthwatch England. The provider will be required to be diverse and inclusive of its local people and community – be it through paid staff, lay people or unpaid volunteers. The provider will also be required to offer a range of opportunities to access health and care information and advice. If you would like to express an interest in being invited to any pre-procurement event with a view to submit a tender then please email: Adultscommissioning@york.gov.uk (stating “Healthwatch York – Soft market testing” in the subject title) by 30th April 2021.
