In May 2002, Devon County Council (DCC) formed the Equality Reference Group (ERG) to help combat the institutional processes that lead to discrimination and understand the needs of diverse people in Devon.? The Group involves representatives who will consult with and inform their respective members/networks with Protected Characteristics (as defined in the Equality Act 2010). The ERG act as ‘critical friends’ to DCC and its partners on issues relating to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. The ERG aims to secure open, inclusive, and ongoing dialogue with organisations and communities and put anti-discriminatory practice, the advancement of equality and good community relations for Devon residents at the heart of policy and practice.
