"A Social Enterprise Vehicle to deliver services previously delivered by the in-house Learning Disabilities Provider Service (LDPS). During the 2013/14 financial year, a total of 1,567 customers with learning disabilities aged between 18 and 64, and 162 aged 65 and over, received a social care service from SCC. The LDPS currently delivered just under half (by value) of the learning disability services funded directly by SCC. It supports approximately 900 customers with learning disabilities at any one time (including customers who receive services from more than one provider). Current services include residential care (without nursing), short breaks (in a residential care environment), Shared Lives, supported living, crisis support, day time support, domiciliary care and employment support. Please note that the Shared Lives service is not included in the scope of the contract to be let under this procurement. Services that are delivered by other organisations under separate contracts with SCC are also out of scope for this procurement. It supports approximately 900 customers with learning disabilities at any one time (including customers who receive services from more than one provider), for 2015/16 the net budget is £26,273,800 (direct costs only) and employs approximately 1, 200 staff (or 975 full time equivalents). Current services include residential care (without nursing), short breaks (in a residential care environment), Shared Lives, supported living, crisis support, day time support, domiciliary care and employment support. Please note that the Shared Lives service is not included in the scope of the contract to be let under this procurement. Services that are delivered by other organisations under separate contracts with SCC are also out of scope for this procurement. Event on 3rd June 2015: Further to the publication of a Prior Information Notice (PIN) (Contract Reference 9N8C-J4Z86C) on 24th February 2015, and the event held on 18th March 2015, Somerset County Council is holding a further Provider event on 3rd June 2015. The event is intended for organisations that would either be: A) Interested in delivering the services as a Social Enterprise (Please see information contained in the PIN), or; B) Interested in delivering some of the services for the Social Enterprise and would like to introduce themselves to the parties referred to in A) above. Due to the venue size, we ask that no more than two representatives attend from each organisation. Organisations that take part will not be advantaged or disadvantaged in any way in any potential future formal procurement. This notice does not represent a formal commitment by the Council to undertake a procurement procedure.
