Care Package The Customer requires the Contractor to supply and deliver a routine inspection and servicing (RIS) and repair package otherwise termed as a ‘care’ package for the following items of personal protective equipment issued to operational fire and rescue personnel in the employ of Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service: Structural Fire Kit – fire coat and trouser more particularly described in Schedule 2 Compatible PPE – Helmets/Hoods, Gloves and Boots more particularly described Care Service Requirements All items sent to the Contractor will be subject to the following processes: Routine inspection – All items submitted will be checked to ensure that they remain in good condition and are fit for purpose. Cleaning – All items submitted will be subject to laundry/cleaning/sanitising before being returned. Repair – Any items submitted that are found to be in need of repair in order to maintain form/function may be repaired by the Contractor dependent on the level of cost and subject to prior agreement with the Customer. Replacement – Any items submitted that are found to be beyond economic repair or that fail routine inspection to the degree that they are deemed no longer safe to use or fit for purpose will be deemed to be condemned. Replacement items will be supplied on a need basis and only with the prior consent of the Customer. Collection/Return The Contractor will as an integral element of the ‘care’ package undertake the following actions: Provide for the purpose of transport between venues suitable receptacles for each of the Collection and Delivery Service Locations described in Schedule 3 hereto), in which items may be placed and will be contained; the form of said receptacle will be at the discretion of the Contractor Collect and return to, items submitted on a weekly basis from the notified locations. Provide a log book for each notified location that contains duplicated pages termed as ‘Laundry Service Advice Notes’. The log book will be used to record the location name, items submitted (to include user name and item barcode), actions required and the date collected. Replacement Items All items supplied as replacement for condemned items will be delivered to the Stores/HQ location by the Contractor for goods receipt and onward transmission to the user.
