Description:
This SLA is critical to ensuring the effective operation of the Waltham Forest Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) which was rapidly mobilised with Enabled Living (a LATCO of Newham Council) following, the insolvency of the previous provider for ICES; NRS Healthcare. The new ICES offer mobilised with Enabled Living to deliver the ICES for Waltham Forest and, with Newham Council, to enable supply of community equipment ordered for Waltham Forest, ensured that risks to residents were mitigated following NRS Healthcare entering into provider failure and that there was continuity of an effective integrated community equipment service offer in place, for people when being discharged from hospital, averting avoidable admissions into acute settings and supporting people to remain well in our communities. The proposal to direct award an SLA to the London Borough of Newham to supply community equipment to Waltham Forest was approved by the London Borough of Waltham Forest’s Strategic Commissioning Board (SCB) in October 2025 followed by an Executive decision, taken on the 11th of February 2026. This SLA is linked with the previously approved emergency direct award of contracts to Enabled living Healthcare, which were approved by SCB in September 2025 followed by an Executive decision, taken on 4th September 2025.
